I would love to donate some of my time to help with this. I am a huge supporter of the Allison and I have been a mason for 20 years. I would like to donate some masonry detergent as well to clean it after repointing. And a good sealer will help for years to come

Eventful day here at the hook. Here I was repointing a big chunk of the South wall and all of a sudden the air conditioner kicks on. Immediately im questioning why it’s even on. On my way to the next bucket I run up and check the air conditioner and it’s turned off……!! 😳🤷♂️👻… ok im going back down stairs quick !!
Towards the end of the day my man Taquito FaceTimed me from pilot school! He hasn’t crashed yet and is hitting 1000 hours today!!! 500 to go and you might see him flying you to some tropical destination. Yes it appears he has a large Pikachu in his apartment! 🤷♂️😆

Glad to see the Firehouse being taken care of. We used to live across the street in the 3rd floor apartment of the building that used to be on the corner of the ally and 14th street. It was still in use then.

All kidding aside, it's great that the repointing is going on but make sure you're using the right mortar mix for the underlying mortar and the brick. It can lead to major problems down the road. "Old mortar, made from lime, sand, and water, is softer than historic brick. But modern portland cement mortar can be many times harder. The problem is, if portland cement is used for historic masonry, the bricks become the weakest part of the system." That being said great that the exterior is seeing this kind of behind the scenes work.
